Particular Views of Stonehenge
By Unknown 1726 - 1775 There are only fifteen stones in this print, whereas there should be more like ninety stones, depending on whether or not you count the half-hidden stones. Stonehenge has always posed problems for artists, because the jumble of stones can hide each other. This artist has chosen to draw only those in the sarsen circle. The sarsen horseshoe is shown in a companion print.
