Stonehenge – Restoration
By George Maunoir Heywood Sumner 1920 The painting is a simple, yet elegant watercolour. The composition seems to be very balanced, with the horizontal lines of the sky and the wide view of the site counteracts the vertical lines of the stones themselves. It conveys a sense of beauty, rather than the more usual rugged wildness often seen in paintings of the ruined monument.
