Stonehenge
By William Fowler 1826 - 1875 This softly toned, pleasant view of Stonehenge seems to have been copied from sketches made at the site. The stones are well placed, neither cramped nor spread out. They are well proportioned compared to each other and the visitors at the site. However the stones are rather rougher looking than they should be. The artist may have wanted to emphasise their great age, rather than their wild location.
