Stonehenge
By William Giles 1910 This very dark image perfectly captures the open feeling of Salisbury Plain. With a fierce storm approaching, the shepherd and sheep have nowhere to hide on the wide open downland. Stonehenge is only ruin, offering very little comfort. Silhouetted against the storm clouds it looks very uninviting.
