The Stupendous Stones called Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain
By Alexander Hogg 1794 This simple and clear image shows a very accurate view of Stonehenge. However the scale of the figures in the foreground is completely wrong. They are far too small and serve only to make the stones look bigger than they really are. Wonderful Magazine, from which this picture is taken, specialised in articles on strange sights, creatures and phenomena. It was not beyond exaggeration as is demonstrated here.
