Handley Hill Burials
At Handley Hill, close to Wor Barrow, Pitt Rivers excavated a cemetery dating back over 3,000 years containing over fifty-nine cremations (human ashes). Many of these cremations were placed under earthen burial mounds (or barrows). This excavation was notable because it was the first in which the areas around the barrow were systematically searched as well as the mounds themselves.
