Downton Mosaic
This section of mosaic pavement is from the site of a Roman villa at Downton, in south Wiltshire. Excavated in the 1950s, the villa dates between about 300 and 400 AD. The mosaic was one of a number of tessellated floors that existed originally, but none of them were as elaborate as this.
