• Amesbury Archer (Wessex Archaeology)
  The grave of a man (the "Amesbury Archer") dating to around 2,300BC was discovered three miles from Stonehenge by Wessex Archaeology staff in May 2002. His grave was the richest from this period (the early Bronze Age) ever found in Britain and contained the country’s first gold objects. The Amesbury Archer is in the Museum's collection. • Explore Wiltshire's Past
  The Victoria County History (VCH) is currently running a Heritage Lottery-funded project called England’s Past for Everyone (EPE). EPE is working with academics and local communities to produce a series of paperback books, resources for schools and an interactive website. The website, ‘Explore England’s Past’ provides free access to 1000s of local history resources including images, transcribed wills and documents and town trails. In Wiltshire they are producing a history of the Wylye Valley village of Codford. Website resources include details of the ANZAC cemetery and the Mompesson family.
