Wale was born in London where he trained as an engraver and studied design at the Academy in St Martin?s Lane. He mainly concentrated on designs for booksellers. He was one of the founding members of the Royal Academy and was appointed it?s first professor of perspective and later librarian. He exhibited some works, usually subjects from English history, at the Royal Academy.
