Museum Opens Its Doors To Under Fives

Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum welcomes families of young children and wants everyone to enjoy exploring Salisbury’s past. To encourage more families to the museum, parents and carers of children under 5 are invited to Under Five’s Fridays, a morning of creative play, messy crafts, storytelling and exploration.

From Friday 8th January 2010, you can take part in a programme of themed activities every 2nd Friday of the month between 10am – 11.30am. Each theme will explore another part of the museum and we will be starting the year with the Salisbury Giant and his naughty companion, Hob Nob.

Each month we will have a range of activities that families can drop in and do, with no need to book. However, to kick start this exciting programme Treehouse Theatre will be here from 10.30am on the 8th January with a wonderful interactive storytelling adventure for 3-5 year olds. As places for this activity are limited families can book in advance by phoning 01722 332151. Don’t worry, if you are not able to take part, there will be plenty more things to see, touch and do.

We are also offering free adult admission to the museum during the first session. Activities and museum entry are free through out the year for children under 5, and all we ask from parents and carers taking part is that they pay the normal admission rate from February 2010. Annual passes are also available so you can take advantage of a whole year of free family activities.
