Museum Wins Business Excellence Award
Salisbury Museum is delighted to announce that it is the winner of the Tourism and Hospitality category in the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2012.
The Museum entered the awards in January and discovered we were successful at the prestigious Chamber of Commerce Presidents Dinner on Friday 10 February.
The award was given in recognition of the success of the museum’s Constable & Salisbury exhibition in 2011. Between May and September last year the museum welcomed over 36,000 people through the doors of the museum, which is 26,000 more than would normally visit over this period. The exhibition was made possible with the support of local businesses Smith and Williamson, Strutt and Parker, Wilsons and Woolley and Wallis.
Adrian Green, Director of the Museum said: ‘This award recognises all the hard work put in by staff, volunteers and trustees over the past year. Constable & Salisbury put the museum on the map and made us a destination in our own right – heritage and cultural attractions have a huge impact on the economy in the south Wiltshire and this award acknowledges the valuable contribution that the museum makes.’
The award was sponsored by the Salisbury & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Second place was awarded to the Peartree Serviced Apartments and third place to the Holiday Inn Salisbury-Stonehenge.
