A French wooden doll in a gown trimmed with Binche lace. The doll is said to have been dressed by Marie Antoinette – for her daughter – while imprisoned, awaiting execution, during the French Revolution.

The museum has just received news it has been awarded a Costume Society Museum Placement Award.
Funding from Arts Council England and the Pilgrim Trust has helped us to create an online collections database. This contains items from our nationally important Pitt-Rivers collection.
