The museum offers a full programme of lectures and courses throughout the year.

The museum has a very successful monthly lecture series focused on archaeology.

Lectures take place in the lecture hall at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month from January to April and September to December.

The museum also offers lectures on social history and historic personalities – at least six lectures are organised per year over the autumn and spring period.

At least one course per year is organised on archaeology or a related subject. These are usually 6-8 weeks long and include field trips to sites of local interest. The courses are usually delivered by a professional lecturer, but are not accredited.
