Margaret Smith will lead us on an historic walk around Broad Chalke. We will begin in the church, with a talk from a local archivist and will look at the graves of Cecil Beaton and the artist Christopher Wood (designed by Eric Gill).
After lunch we will walk through the village, look at Reddish House and go into the owner's private water garden. We will then visit the garden of The King’s Old Rectory, home of Maurice Hewlett (friend of Newbolt) and his avant- garde wife, and continue to the working watercress beds where we will have a brief talk from the owner. Tickets include lunch of homemade soup and a roll, pudding and coffee at the village store cafe. Visit limited to 40 people.
