A lecture by Naomi Speakman.  This talk will look at the history of the Lacock Cup exploring its first role as a drinking vessel at the medieval table and the importance of cups and precious metal to medieval society. The donation of the Lacock Cup to Saint Cyriac’s church will then be examined in more detail, as well as the clues to who the donor may have been. This talk will focus on the uniquely English story of the Lacock Cup and its journey through the centuries to the British Museum today. A fundraising event.
