Dr Paul Seaward has been director of the History of Parliament since 2001. He has written a biography of the statesman and historian Edward Hyde, first Earl of Clarendon, best known as the author of the most famous history of the English Civil War and also one of Charles I’s most trusted advisers. This lecture will explore Clarendon’s Wiltshire connections and what they meant for his career.
