Archaeologists from Historic England and the PASt Landscapes project (based at Salisbury Museum) have recently investigated a major new Roman villa discovered in south-west Wiltshire. The site has been preliminarily assessed through geophysics and small scale evaluation excavation, and appears to be comparable with some of the larger Roman villas in England. This talk presents some preliminary results and discusses the implications of this discovery for our understanding of the south-west Wiltshire region in the Roman period and also coincides with an exhibition in the Temporary Showcase in the Wessex Gallery.
