Talk by Mark Brandon and wine tasting in the King’s Room to include six wines, cheese & biscuits. Fundraising Event. In the elegant surroundings of the King’s Room, we will learn the history of wine through the ages. We will taste wines from six different regions, each of which has a story to tell. History is very important to each wine growing area and goes a long way to explain the huge variation in wine styles and qualities. Each wine has been chosen for its links to key periods and events in social and military history - and even pre-history.Our speaker is Mark Brandon who was the Wine Trade’s last indentured apprentice and who has worked in wine for half a century, including stints with The Wine Society and IDV (Diageo). He currently runs the Salisbury Wine Information Group – SWIG. Please note – the Kings Room is on the 1st floor and there is no lift.
