Walk - Along the Woodford Valley

A guided walk exploring the landscape and archaeology of the Woodford Valley led by local environmental historian Dr Hadrian Cook. This will be an enjoyable six mile circular walk through the Woodford Valley including uneven ground. The walk, lasting approximately 4-5 hours, will explore the landscape, agriculture and archaeology of the Woodford Valley to the north of Salisbury. An annotated map with be provided on the day.Please bring clothing suitable for the weather and stout footwear, sun protection, drink and snacks as required. Please bring your own lunch.

Location: Meet near Lower Durnford Manor. From Salisbury, take the A345 Amesbury Road (Castle Road) and turn left into Stratford Road just before Victoria Park. Proceed through Stratford-sub-Castle and as you enter Little Durnford turn right into The Avenue. Park near the Keeper’s Cottage crossroads (Grid Ref SU 132 346).
