A portrait captures a moment in time but can achieve a lifetime in history. Through this interactive workshop discover more about Augustus John, an artist renowned in his lifetime for his portraits.
How do we capture a person in a portrait? What stories can portrait paintings tell? Could a selfie be classed as a contemporary portrait?
Together we will use the exhibition to tell stories, find clues to who the artist was and use his artwork to inspire new artworks of our own- including experimental portraits and selfies to test how both the artist and sitter might be able to alter the portrait created on the canvas or screen.
Drop in sessions 10am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4pm.
