A talk by Major General Patrick Cordingley. Patrick Cordingley, best known for commanding the Desert Rats in the first Gulf War, has long been fascinated by the Heroic Period of Antarctic exploration. His lecture in the centenary year of the death of Captain Oates will tell the story of the Captain, the Inniskilling Dragoon, immortalised by the manner of his death and his attempt to save Captain Scott and his companions. It is a deeply emotional story that cannot fail to inspire.
